<p>The Veterinary Department within Eskil Vocational School began enrolling students in the 2016–2017 academic year. It currently holds a quota of 62 students (60 regular, 2 class valedictorians) under the Laboratory Technician and Veterinary Health programme.</p>
<p>Two laboratories within our department provide research, development and practical application opportunities for both our academic staff and students.</p>

<p>The primary goal of the Veterinary Department at Aksaray University Eskil Vocational School is to equip students with the fundamental knowledge, skills, behaviours and habits required of a veterinary health technician.</p>

<p>The Laboratory Technician and Veterinary Health Associate Degree Programme aims to train intermediate-level professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to assist veterinarians in the fields of laboratory practice, clinical applications, food safety and reliability of animal origin, and animal feeding and husbandry.</p>
<p>Through the open education system, the programme reaches individuals interested in pet animals or animals in general, meeting their knowledge needs. Furthermore, in addition to providing education and employment opportunities for our country's youth, the programme aims to contribute to the economy and public health through more competent, scientifically grounded intermediate-level professionals.</p>

<p>Students who successfully complete the Laboratory Technician and Veterinary Health Programme and meet the eligibility criteria for the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) are admitted to an aptitude test comprising verbal and quantitative sections.</p>
<p>Placement takes into account the Vertical Transfer Score, which is determined by combining the aptitude test score with the Associate Degree Achievement Score derived from the student's academic grade point average. Candidates who achieve a sufficient score are placed by ÖSYM into upper-level programmes listed in the Vertical Transfer Examination Guide, including Veterinary Medicine Faculties, Agricultural Faculties' Animal Science Departments, and Biology Departments of Science and Literature Faculties.</p>
<p>Additionally, students who qualify for an associate degree diploma are directly eligible to enrol in open education undergraduate programmes in their respective fields.</p>

<span>Cooperative Education</span>

<p>Cooperative Education is a training model in which students of the Laboratory Technician and Veterinary Health Programme work full-time at a workplace during their 4th semester, with the aim of reinforcing their vocational training through practice. Through this programme, students gain professional experience and the opportunity to prepare for the working world by working — while still enrolled — at veterinary clinics, livestock enterprises, laboratories, research centres and relevant public institutions.</p>
<p>In other words, Cooperative Education refers to the practical vocational training that students receive outside the university, at workplaces with which a Cooperative Education Agreement has previously been signed, within the education period specified in the University's Associate and Undergraduate Education, Training and Examination Regulations.</p>
<p>The private sector enterprises, veterinary clinics, livestock enterprises, laboratories and public institutions and organisations with which Cooperative Education Agreements are signed are determined in line with the programme's needs, taking into account both the department's requests and the recommendations of our students.</p>
