The 4th Agriculture and Forestry Council, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry between April 28–30, 2025, in Ankara, aimed to bring together all stakeholders of the sector to define the future vision of Turkey’s agricultural and forestry policies. The council, held in Ankara, attracted great interest with the participation of approximately 1,600 representatives from public institutions, universities, professional chambers, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.
With a scientific, innovative, and future-oriented approach, the council sought to determine strategic goals for agriculture and forestry by gathering all stakeholders in the field. Under 21 main themes, hundreds of proposals were evaluated, resulting in the preparation of the Agriculture and Forestry Council Final Report, which outlines the roadmap for the future of Turkish agriculture. The report covers a wide range of critical topics, including sustainable production, digital agriculture, food security, and rural development.
Aksaray University was represented at the council by Dr. Erinç Gümüş, a faculty member of our vocational school. Dr. Gümüş contributed to the activities of the working group on “Food Security, Safety, and Combating Waste.”
The decisions taken at the council are planned to be announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on May 14, 2025, World Farmers’ Day.
